Testing Solutions

Testing a medical device coating requires specialized solutions to produce reliable results.

Harland’s Confirm™ line of testing solutions enables device manufacturers to more effectively test friction, thickness, durability, and coating coverage.

Enabling Effective Medical Device Testing

Confirm™ 200 Coverage Test Stain

Confirm 200 Coverage Test Stain is a water-based red dye which selectively colors coated areas versus uncoated areas of surface treated with a hydrophilic coating. The stain allows the user to visualize coated areas and to detect any voids.

Confirm Coverage Test Stain improves coating coverage testing and void detection by:

  • Providing greater contrast between coated and uncoated surfaces
  • Visualizing void areas as small as one mm2
  • Being convenient and non-hazardous for the testing technician

Confirm™ 100 Hydrating Solution

Saline solution for hydrating coatings during testing

Confirm 100 Hydrating Solution is a 0.9% normal saline solution ideal for friction testing and coating thickness measurements.

Friction testing for lubricity and durability and coating thickness measurement are critical in characterizing the performance and integrity of hydrophilic coatings. The solution used to hydrate the coating while conducting these tests is one of the most important test parameters.

To most accurately represent conditions found in the clinical procedures, Harland Medical recommends using Confirm 100 Hydrating Solution, a normal saline solution, in place of either deionized or filtered water.

Non-Destructive
Coating Coverage Testing

Lubricent® BrightView™ is an innovative hydrophilic coating solution with a fluorescing property, allowing for non-destructive inspection of coating coverage.

Lubricent BrightView Hydrophilic Coatings

Improve the coating coverage inspection process by choosing Lubricent BrightView as your hydrophilic coating solution.

BrightView coating formulations enable cured coatings on devices to be easily visible under 365 nm long wavelength “blacklight” UV light.

The UV blacklight causes the cured coating to fluoresce visible light, making the coating easily visible without special instrumentation or destructive testing.
